Interior of traditional tailoring workshop

Rooted in Tradition, Refined by Experience

Schneideratelier Berlin was founded in 1998 by Heinrich Braun, a third-generation tailor whose grandfather apprenticed in Vienna during the golden age of European menswear. What began as a modest workshop on a quiet street in Mitte has grown into one of Berlin's most respected bespoke establishments.

Our philosophy remains unchanged: every garment should be as individual as the person wearing it. We reject the notion that quality must be sacrificed for convenience. Instead, we embrace the unhurried process of creation, where each fitting brings the garment closer to perfection.

The Principles We Follow

Bespoke tailoring is not merely about making clothes. It is about understanding proportion, movement, and the subtle ways fabric interacts with the human form. Our approach combines classical techniques with an acute sensitivity to contemporary aesthetics.

  • Pattern drafting from individual measurements, never from standard blocks
  • Hand-padded canvas construction for natural chest shape
  • Pick-stitching on lapels, collars, and pocket edges
  • Natural shoulder construction without excessive padding
  • Functional sleeve buttons with surgeon's cuffs

Our Workshop

Step into our atelier and you enter a space where time moves differently. The gentle rhythm of sewing machines, the soft whisper of shears through cloth, and the focused concentration of skilled hands at work create an atmosphere of purposeful calm.

Natural light floods our cutting tables from large north-facing windows, ensuring accurate colour assessment. Our pressing equipment maintains the traditional techniques that give bespoke garments their distinctive shape. Every tool has its place, every process its proper sequence.
