Before You Contact Us

To help us respond effectively, please review the detailed expedition descriptions on our Experiences page. Most common questions about fitness requirements, included equipment, and itinerary details are answered there.

For booking inquiries, use the expedition form on our home page rather than general contact methods. This ensures your information reaches our scheduling team directly.

Frequently Asked Questions

What if I need to cancel?

Cancellations made more than 30 days before expedition start receive a full refund minus a $75 administrative fee. Cancellations within 30 days are non-refundable, though we can transfer your booking to a different expedition date subject to availability.

Do you accommodate dietary restrictions?

Yes. We regularly accommodate vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free, and common allergy restrictions. Inform us of any requirements during booking, and we'll adjust meal planning accordingly. Note that extreme dietary restrictions may limit menu variety in backcountry settings.

What happens in bad weather?

Expeditions proceed in most weather conditions. Rain, wind, and cold are part of wilderness experience. We only cancel or significantly alter plans when conditions create genuine safety concerns, such as lightning, extreme winds above treeline, or whiteout conditions. Weather-related cancellations initiated by Sage Dusk result in full refunds or rebooking options.

Can I join an expedition solo?

Absolutely. Roughly forty percent of our participants join without a companion. Solo participants are integrated into the group naturally, and many report this as an opportunity to meet like-minded individuals without the social buffer that traveling with friends provides.

What fitness level do I actually need?

Honest self-assessment matters more than absolute fitness. Each expedition page lists specific requirements. As a general guideline, if you can comfortably walk 10 kilometers on varied terrain while carrying a daypack, you can handle our beginner and intermediate expeditions. Advanced expeditions require demonstrated backcountry experience.
